We were honored to be the featured author and illustrator for the 4th annual Hooked on Books celebration in Chaska, Minnesota!! Our February visit started with a Minnesota "hot dish"!
|

We presented our books to every third grade class in the district, as well as a few second graders! Wow! Those kids are truly making the world a happier place! |

We also had the chance to meet Lauren, Eliza, and Emily, Girl Scouts who were volunteering their time and talents as face-painters at the Chaska, MN Hooked on Books event. Cathy provided the art for the Hooked on Books poster you see behind us! |

Cathy shows how dirty her hands get when she draws with pastels. The giraffe art was given to Mary Erickson, Community Education Coordinator for the District.
|

A big thank you to our new friends in the Schools of Eastern Carver County, Minnesota! You happied our hearts! |

Mmmmmm...HAPPY CAKE was served at the Hooked on Books event!
Go to the WHAT CAN I DO TODAY? page
to find the recipe. Make Happy Cake and
make the world a happier place! |

Many friends came to bid Allison goodbye at Schuler's Books in Okemos, Michigan on February 10. After seven years in Michigan, Allison and family have moved to Florida! |

Allison shares the eagle lesson from PUT YOUR BEST FOOT FORWARD with a terrific audience at Rockenbaugh Elementary School in Southlake, Texas.
|

We were thrilled to be included in WOMAN'S DAY magazine's Indulgences page! |

You can see the TAKE A DEEP BREATH Garden at the 4-H Indoor Children's Garden at Michigan State University! The garden includes every flower and critter from our book, as well as the birdhouse, and the book itself, installed next to a bench.
|

Making the world a happier place book by book, our friend Mara and her sister Jena wrote to authors, asking if they would donate books to rebuild a school library in Long Beach, Mississippi that had been completely destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. We were honored to be included! When we visited her school, Hutchings Elementary in Howell, MI, Allison presented Mara with a homemade "Happy Cake!" Principal John Clay joined us for the photo. |

One of our favorite photos...this was taken by a teacher attending our two-day Teacher Workshop...on a beautiful day in North Carolina.
Our workshop will rejuvenate, reward, and remind you of why you became a teacher in the first place! |

Cathy paints the WHAT CAN I DO TODAY? tree at Wilkshire Early Childhood Center in Haslett, Michigan. She's using her "famous" homemade palette!
|

Here it is matted and framed and hanging in the Media Center at Wilkshire, thanks to Librarian Deb Woodworth! When Allison and Cathy make presentations together, your school gets an original illustration, as well as a free set of our books! |

Samantha Henderson, a fifth-grade friend at Wacousta Elementary School in Grand Ledge, Michigan, wrote to Allison as a school assignment to "write a letter to your favorite author." Her favorite author ended up visiting Samantha's school! |

Here, we're visiting with children at the Duke Children's Hospital and Health Center in Durham, NC. The inchworm in REACH FOR THE SKY is an encouraging lesson, to "never, ever, give up!" |
